An overnight user experience provides valuable feedback at Finney House
It’s not every day you get the chance to try a night in a nursing home, or indeed to go to sleep at work but that’s exactly what happened at Finney House last Thursday. A group of willing volunteers had a ‘Try before you buy’ type experience and had bed, breakfast and evening meal there just to see what it was like.
The volunteers who ranged from a retired Company Director, an Engineering Manager, a Financial Administrator, a Personal Trainer, a retired District Nurse and a retired Dustbin man, to name but a few, were joined by Jeanne Davies Managing Director and other members of her senior management team for an overnight stay.
The exercise was part of a user experience study, designed to gain valuable feedback and will be used in developing this and other new homes being built in the future. ‘Finney House is a brand new building which is more like a five star hotel than a nursing home, it looks absolutely beautiful. It is luxuriously appointed and has first class facilities, but as a business we wanted to know what it felt like to be a resident’ said Jeanne Davies, Managing Director. ‘It’s only by experiencing a service like ours at every customer touchpoint throughout a 24 hour period, that you can know for sure whether your vision is an everyday reality and that meant packing an overnight bag and staying there ourselves. Having a group of totally independent people stay overnight with us was invaluable. It meant that the feedback we had was objective and not biased in any way.’
