Catherine Tobin is October’s Hero on the Month at Cherry Tree House
SAP and Trainee CHAP Catherine Tobin from Hyde has been named Hero of the Month for October at Cherry Tree House.
Chosen by home manager Val Shaughnessy, Catherine was given this award because she is consistently going the extra mile for everyone on her shift, residents and staff included.
On hearing the news Catherine said ‘It’s a lovely feeling to get picked as Hero of the Month. We have a lot of staff here at Cherry Tree and it gives you a real boost to know that you’re the one they’ve chosen. I feel quite emotional and it has really boosted my confidence.’
Catherine has worked in care for 27 years and until she started work at Cherry Tree House she had always been a carer. She says that in other homes she’d worked in, there was no real opportunity for progression. But in the two years she’s worked at Cherry Tree House she was promoted to Senior Advanced Practitioner and is now training to become a CHAP – Clinical Health Advanced Practitioner. ‘There is so much potential to progress here,’ said Catherine. ‘Cherry Tree House is a beautiful home and a lovely place to work. I fitted in really well from the start, the staff are all lovely and we are never short of anything, PPE wise or anything else at all.’
Catherine works nights. She’s been working night shifts all her working life. She says that it fits in perfectly with her family life and she’s never had to miss school assemblies, plays or sports days.
Outside of work Catherine has been married for 18 years to her husband who she met 28 years ago. She has 2 children loves 80’s music and going for walks.
Well done Catherine. You are a wonderful example to your peers and good luck with completing your CHAPS training.
As well as being awarded her certificate and a gift from the home manager, Catherine also wins £100 worth of Love to Shop vouchers from head office.
