Finney House mark what would have been Sir Tom Finney’s 100th Birthday

5th April 2022 – Today we celebrated what would have been our namesake and Preston North End football legend, Sir Tom Finney’s 100th birthday. We planted a Cherry Blossom tree ‘centre field’ of the lawn so that it will hopefully be in bloom every year on his birthday. Sir Tom’s son Brian kindly helped us to plant it by shovelling in the soil. 

Sadly, it was too cold for residents to be outside, but we marked the day with a football themed afternoon tea and Music Man Dave – also a big fan of Sir Tom entertained us all with his songs and even bought in some of his treasured memorabilia of Sir Tom’s footballing career. 

Thankfully the rain kept away, and we didn’t have to dash from a ‘splash’ of water.
