Gainsborough House has Awarded Claire Clout their Hero of the Month award

Healthcare assistant Claire, says she was ‘Speechless’ when she found out that she had won. She couldn’t understand why she was picked because she said “I just treat everybody like I treat my own family.” She went onto say “I believe there is no ‘i’ in team, and I’m just part of a wonderful team at Gainsborough that is made up of nurses, carers and domestics and I feel lucky to work with them.”

Claire is a very humble person, but in reality, she is truly amazing. She takes time to get to know the entire families of residents, she has a great sense of humour and upbeat attitude, which during the current pandemic has been essential in keeping life as normal as possible for residents. One family member Dot Harragon said ‘Claire has been an absolute rock to me and my family she truly has been our hero. Her support and reassurance has been a great source of comfort and really has kept us going through these horrendous times.’

Claire lives in Warrington surrounded by a large family and has a 15 year old son. Since the age of 5 her hobby was Morris Dancing until two years ago when she became too busy working to continue. She has been working in the care sector for 21 years and the last three of those have been at Gainsborough House. She became interested in working in care when she and her sister started to look after her grandparents at aged 21.

‘We are so proud of Claire’ said Anne Hughes home manager, she is a real asset to our team and we are very proud of her.’

Claire wins £100 vouchers of her choice and is pictured here receiving her certificate by home manager, Anne Hughes.

Hero of the Month awards is a new initiative introduced by owners of Gainsborough House L&M Healthcare, and is now open across all their homes in North West of England. It is a public award, where members of the public, family members or colleagues can nominate who they think is deserving and the home manager selects the winner. It has been specially set up to recognise the extraordinary efforts that staff are putting into their work throughout the current pandemic. There are also two other awards schemes running which recognise the daily contributions staff are making to the running out their homes; ‘Go the Extra Mile’, or  GEM awards and Employee of the Month.

“We are so proud of all our staff” said Jeanne Davies, managing director of L&M Healthcare, “These are challenging times to work in and we have some staff who have really stepped up to the challenge. It’s only right that we should give them the recognition they deserve.”

The Hero of the Month awards nominations close on the 28th of each month, the winner is chosen and will then appear on the company website and Facebook page. If you would like to nominate one of the staff for the award at Gainsborough House, please contact the home manager.
