Jade Sullivan is named Hero of the Month at Cherry Tree House

Jade Sullivan is named hero of the month at Cherry Tree House. Jade who is a care assistant on Marple unit said she was ‘shocked, but it did feel really nice to be feel appreciated.’

Jade only joined Cherry Tree in January 2020 and this is her first ever job. She has asthma and until recently this prevented her from working. But with her condition now under control, Jade has really enjoyed finding her feet at Cherry Tree and has also started her NVQ level 2. She always wanted to be a nurse and she feels this is the next best thing.

You would have thought that when the pandemic hit, Jade would have been the first person to want to shield.  But no, she was enjoying her job so much that she worked all through the pandemic. She felt that with residents were unable to see their families, it was vital that they had continuity of care, so she put her own well-being to one side and came into work.

Jade says ‘Becoming a care assistant is the best thing I ever did, I really enjoy it and it is so rewarding to be able to help other people.’  She was nominated by colleague Rebecca Preston who said ‘ Jade works really hard for our residents. This is her first ever care job and she is a natural.’

Jade lives in Denton, Greater Manchester and outside of work she likes nothing better than a bit of retail therapy. Which is quite handy because as well as being named Hero of the Month, she gets a certificate and gift from the home manager and also wins £100 worth of vouchers of her choice from head office.

‘It is thanks to dedicated staff members like Jade that we were able to provide continuity of care during the height of the pandemic’ said home manager Val Shaughnessy, ‘Jade put her own well-being aside to look after our residents. She really deserves to be our Hero of the Month.’

‘It is wonderful to hear Jade’s story.  She’s an inspiration to all those people may have had health issues that have prevented them from progressing with a career, to know that it is possible to find a job that you love and feel really passionate about.’ Said Jeanne Davies, Managing Director of L&M Healthcare.
