Love is in the air at Finney House
We love to spread our love each and every day in all our homes, but Finney House had a lot to celebrate this Valentines day. It was Mary Houghton’s diamond wedding anniversary on the 9th February, she’s been married to husband Joe for 60 years and Lyn Stott has her birthday on February 16th.
Our residents have alot of fond memories of Valentines day; Millie recalls how her husband used to send her a dozen red roses every year, Mary Houghton used to write her husband poems to mark the occasion (listen up ladies – perhaps that’s the key to 60 years of marriage!) and Jean Fell had her first date with her husband on Valentines day.
To mark the day we had a special Valentines menu with some very saucy love filled desserts – a choice of ‘Naughty but nice Strawberry Trifle’ or an ‘After dark chocolate chip sponge with salted caramel sauce’ followed by a glass of fizz and some chocolates. Memory Lane Productions entertained us for the afternoon performing an extract from ‘My Funny Valentine’ an interactive show with lots of fun and favourites songs to sing along to.
As a special little treat, all our residents were given a box of chocolates and those on special diets were given a red rose to mark the day.
