Mengjun Xu is named Hero of the Month for August at Whittle Hall
Registered General Nurse and trained midwife Mengjun Xu has been named Hero of the Month for August at Whittle Hall. Mengjun, who is originally from South West China, moved to England in 2006 to pursue her love of studying, met her future husband and eventually settled down.
Mengjun has been working at Whittle Hall since shortly after it opened three years ago. She is a highly regarded member of staff who everyone loves. She was nominated by both a colleague and a resident’s relative for her extremely caring nature.
‘I love working at Whittle Hall’ said Mengjun, ‘I feel that our residents are part of my family. I look after them with all my heart. It feels a natural thing for me to do.’
‘Mengjun is a genuinely compassionate person who puts a lot of love into her work, this makes her stand out as a nurse.’ Said Deborah Payne, home manager at Whittle Hall. ‘She loves being a nurse and is constantly looking at ways of developing her skill set.’
Outside of work Mengjun is married and lives locally in Birchwood, Warrington. She practices acupuncture and loves doing photography and calligraphy in her spare time. She is also planning to further her studies to become a prescribing nurse.
On hearing of being named Hero of the Month Mengjun said ‘ I didn’t expect this, I’m just being myself, but I really appreciate it and it feels good to know that people believe in me.’
‘We have some remarkable staff and Mengjun is an exemplary RGN. We actively encourage personal development in all our staff, and it is so pleasing to hear that Mengjun is looking to further her studies to become a prescribing nurse.’ Jeanne Davies, Managing Director, L&M Healthcare.
