Mother’s Day 2022. We celebrated our ‘Miraculous Mother Figure.’
This year Mother’s Day fell on March 27th and our theme was one of inclusion, respecting the fact that not all mothers are our biological mothers. Mothers come in lots of different forms they can be work mums, friend mums, step mums, foster mums, in law mums and adoptive mums too. So, this year we have referred to them as ‘Mother figures’ so they can all be included.
Our theme ‘Miraculous Mother Figure’s gave the opportunity for families, friends, Facebook followers and team members to highlight just how amazing their mother figure was or is. Activities teams across the group received a total of 50 wonderful stories, videos, poems and song requests which, our now good friend Paul Sparrey, Producer of Family Favourites Radio put together and produced an epic radio show which was two hours and 40 minutes long. The show was played in all our homes on the day and the stories, poems, messages and song requests were all individually shared across our Facebook pages so staff were able to show residents on TV’s in lounges or handheld devices. By the morning of the 28th of March the show had been listened to on over 150 different devices.
Homes across the group prepared some wonderful activities and decorated our homes beautifully to mark the occasion. Some even had entertainers in too. It was a fabulous day and a total credit to all those team members who worked so hard to make it special.
