National Care Home Open day 2018 at Finney House
National Care Home Open Day is all about linking communities. Its a chance to help celebrate different people, cultures and relationships within the local area and show the local community how friendly, happy and welcoming care homes can be.
For this years event Finney House was blessed with beautiful warm sunshine which put a smile on everyone’s faces and meant that we could enjoy a beautiful afternoon tea and a visit from the ice cream man outside in our lovely garden. We were also visited by The Light Foundation, a local Muslim organisation aiming to break down barriers between communities and reach out to those affected by loneliness, lots of resident’s families and friends and we were also delighted to welcome Mayor of Preston, Brian Rollo and his wife Trisha.
It was a double celebration. Being the Queen’s birthday we gave the event a bit of royal theme and had Union Jack flags and bunting to decorate. The Bluebird Singers entertained us with their ‘All British’ show and a bouncy castle kept the children happy and helped them work up an appetite.
It was a really special day enjoyed by all and so nice to see the local community coming together.
