Activities at Gainsborough House

To entertain and stimulate our residents, we offer a weekly programme of varied and inclusive activities, such as:

  • Trips to places of interest
  • Visits from professional musicians and entertainers
  • Guided walks round the communal sensory gardens
  • Weekly chair based exercise classes
  • Board games such as scrabble and dominoes
  • Card games such as ‘Play your cards right’
  • Arts and crafts
  • Giant interactive activity table

All activities are led by our Wellbeing Coordinators. If your loved one has a special interest or hobby that is not listed here, don’t worry, we will support any special interests or pastimes.

Residents are actively encouraged to take advantage of our hair and beauty salon where they can enjoy pedicures, manicures, massages and hair cutting and styling.

Our new giant interactive activity touch table is a fantastic piece of equipment that enables up to four residents to take part at one time. Its like a giant iPad on a stand and is really versatile. It can be used vertically or horizontally, its operates remotely without cables so it can be used in resident’s bedrooms and is connected via wifi so that apps like Skype can connect with resident’s families and Google Earth can be used to find places that hold significance to them. It has a number of apps such as sensory apps to soothe, and game and drawing apps that can be used to stimulate and encourage the use of motor skills. Next time you visit ask staff if you can have a play.

  • This is the most beautiful home with the most caring staff, and excellent management. This should be the blue print for all care homes and I feel so lucky to have found it.

  • The care my father has received has been second to none. I cannot thank you enough for the work you do. You are a shining example of how a nursing home should be run.

  • Yes this home is like a 5* Hotel and the care is also 5*, my mum was in here for respite and the care she received was wonderful.

  • This is an outstanding care home with friendly and approachable staff. On a first impression it reminds me of a five star hotel. My grandma settled in from day one!

  • I would recommend this care home to anybody. The facilities are great, the staff are excellent, efficient and very caring – deserves 1st prize in the awards.

  • The facilities, food, activities, cleanliness etc are all as you would expect from a first class care home. We are really impressed and we would have no hesitation in recommending you.
