Having achieved the standards required for the Veteran Friendly Framework (VFF), Hulton House is now able to offer former members of the Armed Forces enhanced person-centred care and support.
Being a VFF care home means that we have an increased understanding and recognition for the veteran community. We are now better equipped to support the practical, emotional, and social needs of our veterans.
To achieve Veteran Friendly status, we were required to meet eight individual standards. These included: noting Armed Forces status within care plans, addressing social isolation; and signposting to support services (such as their local Royal British Legion branch, and other charities who provide support for veterans or for partners of veterans).
Within our home we have several VFF champions who will identify and connect a veteran new to our home with other veterans already living in our home. This will enable and encourage the development of meaningful friendships. We work with a Clinical Psychologist from Preston Barracks who is experienced in older veteran adult care and is able to help provide tailored interventions when needed. Our GP is also informed of new veterans in our care. We also have several staff members who are veterans.
As a care home group we join the country in commemorating National days which acknowledge the sacrifices made by veterans and take these days very seriously. We commemorate D Day, VE day, and Remembrance Sunday as part of our events programme. We always provide a varied programme of activities and events to ensure that they are fully acknowledged in our home. These include themed arts and crafts, entertainers in wartime dress, and following televised services and parades.
The VFF is a collaboration between Armed Forces charities Royal Star & Garter and Royal British Legion, and NHS Veterans’ Covenant Healthcare Alliance (VCHA), with funding support from the Armed Forces Covenant Fund Trust.
We are proud to have achieved VFF accreditation and welcome veterans to live or work in our home.
Must be one of the nicest places I’ve ever seen!
Well. It’s just beautiful. Absolutely beautiful. Whoever’s built it has done a damn good job!
The care my father has received has been second to none. I cannot thank you enough for the work you do. You are a shining example of how a nursing home should be run.
This is an outstanding care home with friendly and approachable staff. On a first impression it reminds me of a five star hotel. My grandma settled in from day one!
The facilities, food, activities, cleanliness etc are all as you would expect from a first class care home. We are really impressed and we would have no hesitation in recommending you.
I’d be happy to put either of my parents in here.
There’s space for people to sit around and have their own time. Absolutely stunning.
Yes. I could live here quite happily. Yes. I’m 76 years old and my husband is 82. We don’t live very far away so it would be like a real home from home.
It’s very impressive, obviously finished to a very high standard, very roomy, yes am mightily impressed.
I’m just blown away to be honest with you. I’ve never seen a place like it in my life. It looks good from the outside even. When you come inside it’s like walking in heaven and that’s where I’ll be when I come here.
