Kitwood House is a centre of excellence in dementia care and is a next generation care home that has been specially designed and bespoke built for people living with dementia.
Future proofed against Covid 19, Kitwood House uses cloud-based body temperature screening. This can identify anybody who may be carrying an infection. It also has many other facilities in order to keep residents and visitors safe, such as no touch toilet flushing, keypad access, hand sanitiser and PPE dispensing. The way that Kitwood House has been future proofed against infection control features in a three-page article in May’s edition of The Care Home Environment (TCHE). TCHE is a leading professional journal which provides the latest news for professionals involved in the design, build, refurbishment and management of care homes. A key objective of Kitwood House is to promote the feel of a happy home that is filled with fun, warmth and care. While it functions as a care home specialising in complex dementia with rooms for 68 residents; it does so within the context of surroundings which have the décor, layout and ambiance of a home that is not your everyday care home.
Within this beautiful, happy and cheerful environment; residents receive exceptional care to the highest standards. This is delivered from professionally trained and dedicated staff – each of whom are devoted to enriching the lives of both residents and their families, through love, support, stimulation and communication.
My husband was in for respite, it was relief to leave him somewhere so safe.
He settled in quickly and everyone loved him.
I’ve never seen anything like it.
The staff are lovely and the facilities are second to none.
He loved the food. He had two lunches most days and a cooked breakfast!
Its amazing, so much thought has gone into this.
Wow, this place is amazing.
