Sam Yardley, Finalist in 2024 WAGs
We are delighted to announce that L&M Healthcare’s Director of Operations Sam Yardley has been shortlisted as a finalist at this year’s Women Achieving Greatness in Social Care (WAGs) Awards.
Over 85% of the social care workforce is made up of women and many of those hardworking, talented, and dedicated individuals balance the demands of family life alongside their careers. The Women Achieving Greatness in Social Care Awards was established to recognise and celebrate the remarkable contributions of female leaders across all roles and regions of the sector, while also creating a platform to uplift emerging stars and future leaders.
Sam was nominated in the Talent Development Award category after her remarkable turnaround in four L&M Healthcare homes and the group now sitting at a 96% occupancy. The winner will be announced at a black tie gala dinner on the 28th of November at The Hilton Bankside Hotel in London which will be co-hosted by Neev Spencer and Baroness Floella Benjamin. Supporting her at the awards dinner will be co-directors and members of L&M Healthcare’s Executive Leadership Team, Commercial Director Paul Fletcher, Procurement Director Graeme Duncan and Director of HR Emma Redshaw.
Sam was nominated by Managing Director of L&M Healthcare Jeanne Davies who is extremely proud of what Sam has achieved at work while having a young family at home.
‘Sam is a shining example of what can be achieved when the right person is leading operations. Her determined and tenacious nature, meticulous eye for detail and conforming to industry standards and social care regulations, and her unwavering energy and determination to provide the best possible standards in care and quality of life for people living with dementia in our homes, has had a profound effect on the teams working with her. By her leadership and example, they now see that it is possible to make dramatic changes in a relatively small period of time and not to accept things just because that is how it has always been done. She’s managed all this while being a wife and mum to two beautiful and well balanced young children, demonstrating she is also adept at managing a work and family life balance. ’ Said Jeanne.
Formerly an inspector for the CQC Sam joined L&M Healthcare in February 2023. She made the move because of the experience she had had when inspecting L&M Healthcare services which she reports to have been ‘Open and honest in all dealings with her, a provider who wanted the best for the people who accessed the services provided’ Joining initially as Head of Governance and Quality she was recently promoted to Director of Operations in recognition of having achieved this amazing turnaround. On hearing the news of being shortlisted for this award Sam said she was ‘Completely honoured and for once – lost for words! I am very fortunate to have an amazing team of professionals who really care and leaders who value and recognise employees commitment and hard work, it really is a wonderful place to work”
We wish Sam all the very best of luck for a win on the night, she is our most deserving winner.
