Sylwia wins Northwest Care Home Worker of the Year
Sylwia Skalka, a care worker with L&M Healthcare has won North West Care Home Worker of the Year at the Great British Care Awards 2022. The awards are a series of regional events throughout the UK and are a celebration of excellence across the care sector. The purpose, to pay tribute to those individuals who have demonstrated outstanding excellence in their field.
Originally from Poland Sylwia is a single mother and main income provider in her family and one of L&M Healthcare’s younger carers. She was nominated because she is a role model to her generation and other carers. She is caring, loving, selfless, always willing to help everyone whatever the circumstances, and is always up to date with all training and learning. During the pandemic she never missed a shift, helped agency staff settle in and picked up extra shifts to cover at a moment’s notice.
L&M Healthcare’s Operations Director Jo Fogg said ‘Sylwia is one in a million, she’s a very valued member of staff and her standards and work ethic are highly commendable.’
As winner of the Northwest regional event, Sylwia is automatically entered in the National Finals of the Great British Care Awards which will be held later in the year.
‘I feel extremely proud of myself for winning ‘said Sylwia ‘and I also feel valued. I’m grateful to the L&M healthcare staff who have supported me throughout the process.’
