Team Whittle Hall raise £1,000 for residents garden bar

Chloe Sturgess and Sarah Hamilton, who work as a Well-being leads at Whittle Hall Care Home in Great Sankey, Warrington, recently held a charity car wash in the home’s car park to raise funds for a garden bar in their resident’s garden. The car wash, which was held over two days and saw both Sarah and Chloe rolling up their sleeves, chipping their nails and getting wrinkly hands made £546.20.

To recognise and reward their efforts Jeanne Davies, Managing Director of L&M Healthcare who own and operate Whittle Hall promised to match every pound they raised out of her own money. So, the grand total came to a whopping £1092.40. ‘The girls worked so hard for this, and it is truly commendable. I’m very proud of what they achieved. Not only did they raise enough money to buy it, but they also had enough to install it, paint it, and fully stock it in time to celebrate Whittle Hall’s Fifth Birthday!’ said Jeanne Davies. ‘I absolutely love to see an idea become a reality and the girls have not only made this a reality they showed enterprise in doing it which is just marvellous. I was more than happy to put my hand in my pocket.’

Whittle Hall, which specialises in dementia care, was five years on Saturday 20th August 2022. It was opened in August 2017 by the lovely Pearl who was 91 at the time and the first ever L&M Healthcare resident at their other Warrington home, Gainsborough House. It also had an official visit from Deputy Mayor of Warrington at the time, Karen Mundry. To celebrate five wonderful and hugely successful years, staff marked the occasion with a fabulous Mexican Fiesta style party complete with live DJ, themed cocktails and food, a photo booth, pinata and of course the grand opening ceremony of Whittle Hall’s new Garden Bar.

Home Manager Deborah Payne who has been in place since the home first opened said ‘The Well-being team have done an amazing job in making this happen. The bar has become the central focus to our garden area and I’m sure it will get a lot of use. Everyone at Whittle Hall works so hard to make days like these special for our residents! And the girls raising the money to make this happen has just been incredible. We have a wonderful team here who have all played a part in us making this five-year milestone and will always go above and beyond to deliver loving care for our residents.’
